Z-Man's Pro Staff Holiday Wish List

Fri, Dec 7th, 2012 12:00:00 am:

The holidayZ are here and you’ve either begun shopping or are beginning to panic! Fear not, Z-FanZ, as we’ve got you covered. We recently asked our Pro-Staff what was on their holiday wish lists and here is what they said.

Capt. Wade Harness (Capt. Wade Guide Service)

—Competes in west coast/pacific kayak tournaments

“I'd like some more Z-Man StreakZ XL in Baby Bass and a Daiwa Seagate SGT40H conventional saltwater reel to pitch them on. Forty-pound Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon line is also a must.”

AJ Ramirez, Jr.

—Competes in the new Outdoor Heritage circuit on the west coast

“I'd like to have some more Palmetto BugZ in green pumpkin that I can pair with a homemade jig tied to 14-pound Sunline fluorocarbon. I’ll fish this on a Shimano Curado 201/Vkooi custom jig rod combo for both large- and smallmouth bass targeting crawdads in 10 to 15 feet of water on Lake Havasu (Arizona).

Capt. "Tommy Z" Ziesmann (Action Charters in St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay, FL)

“Z-Man’s Redfish ChatterBaits in New Penny—and a Diawa TD Zillion Coastal Saltwater baitcaster to throw them on—are what I’m asking Santa for this year!”

Jeff Narron (FLW Outdoors and B.A.S.S. Federation Nation angler)

“Z-Man Palmetto BugZ in Black Sapphire are going to top my wish list this holiday season. They’re great for pitching and flipping into heavy cover, and skip very well under docks. Add a punch skirt to your Texas-rigged Palmetto BugZ and you’ve got a great alternative to a standard jig. I’d also like a great pair of polarized sunglasses. Solar Bat’s PNVX series with the amber gradient lens is an all-around great choice. A great pair of polarized glasses really helps me to see the reaction of a bedding fish while using Z-Man Finesse WormZ or CrawdadZ in their nests.”

Randy Kuhens (Kick'n Bass Guide Service)

“My holiday wish list is going to include Z-Man Shaky Headz and 7-inch Finesse WormZ in ‘New Money’ color. Being known as a shaky head fisherman, I'd like to be surprised with a G-Loomis NRX shaky head rod come present-opening time.”

Travis Perret

“On my wish list would be a pack of Peanut Butter and Jelly ZinkerZ and a 6’ 10” medium heavy Denali Norwood finesse jig rod.  I’d also ask for an Eco Pro Tungsten 3/16 weight to create one of the most sensitive, unrivaled fish catching setups available. If I was stranded on a boat in the middle of nowhere with only one bait to use, it would be the ZinkerZ. It’s, without question, my go-to tournament bait.”

Capt. Brian M. Garris (The Reel Deal Charters)

—Fishes IFA Redfish and Lowcountry Redfish Tours

“My X-mas wish list includes Z-Man ShrimpZ in Glow, a G-Loomis Greenwater rod, and Penn Battle 3000 spoiled with 20 lb. Power Pro Green Moss braid.”

Casey Kidder

—Fishes Kansas Buddy Bass Circuit

“My wish list is going to include a G-Loomis MBR844 GLX 7' Heavy rod for pitching a Texas-rigged Okeechobee Craw Flappin CrawZ on a 4/0 Gamakatsu round bend hook.

Capt. James Dumas
(Drum Man Charters)

“My wish list won’t be complete without my favorite Z-Man wintertime bait: MinnowZ in white. I like to pair them with a chartreuse 1/16-oz. jighead. This time of year the water is getting really clear and the bait are small minnows compared to the summertime mullet. MinnowZ are deadly when placed a foot in front of a redfish's nose, and the white helps get their attention. Be sure to fish the MinnowZ very slowly, as they already produce a bunch of action due since they float and their tails float up off the bottom. The two items that go great with this style of fishing is a good pair of polarized sunglasses (I love my Costas!) and a stable casting platform for spotting cruising fish.”

“I hope you all have a great holiday and were good this year so that you get everything you asked for!”

Captain Jason Prieto (Steady Action Fishing Charters)

“My Christmas wish list would have to be a Pearl White Z-Man Jerk Shadz tied on an ultra-sharp Z-Man trigger hook. Fish this on an 8’ Daiwa Saltiga rod and Daiwa 2500 Procyon spinning reel and you’ll be ready to load the boat with big ones. Tight lines!”

Rob Jordan
(Lanier Experience Bass Guide Service)

"My wish list is going to include some Z-Man Grass KickerZ in Opening Night and Paddlerz in Bad Shad! I’m also asking for some 20-lb. Seaguar Kanzen braid, a Shimano Stradic CI4, and 7'2'' Medium Duckett White Ice rod.”
